Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 6) — Twenty suspected chat operators were arrested in a raid of two cybersex dens in Quezon City Wednesday night.The Quezon City Police District Director (QCPD) Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar said the cybersex dens operate under the guise of a call center business and make money by selling pornographic links.
Eleazar said they are investigating the possible involvement of a syndicate in the cybersex dens' operations. There are no nude pictures.]The suspects will be charged forn violationg Republic Act 10175 or the Cybersex Prevention Act.
The QCPD said the operation involved chat room operators who enticed clients into signing up on adult websites.
Payments, often in hundreds of dollars, were made via credit card per viewing.
Some viewers were allegedly tricked into speaking with a nude performer, usually a young girl, without knowing they are being recorded.
The suspects then threatened to expose them if they don’t cough up cash.
