I know several people who met each other in middle school or high school and managed to resist the temptation to have sex (or at least they weren't caught ), and wound up getting married at 19 and 20 - some of them are even still happily married.
Age differences can make relationships more difficult, however a 3 year difference as you get older is really not all that significant.
